As spring unfolds in the vibrant city of New Haven, so too does our commitment to serving our community. This month was jam-packed for JAC; continue reading to learn about all the exciting things we accomplished.

Planting with the Seniors

We started the month by beautifying the landscape outside the Ella B. Scantlebury Senior Residence at 241 Dixwell Ave. We planted vibrant flowers and aromatic herbs, making the front flowerbed peaceful and captivating.

FundDrive

We collected and sold lightly used household items and clothing in efforts to raise money for our community service endeavors. We successfully collected over 1 ton of items.

2024 International Pathfinders Camporee

We extended our support to the Mount Zion SDA Church Guarding Angels Pathfinders by providing a monetary donation. This contribution will enable their members, aged 10-17, to embark on an unforgettable journey of fellowship alongside 55,000 like-minded youth at the International Pathfinders Camporee in Gillette, Wyoming, from August 5th to 11th, 2024.

Journey2Free Donation

We made a donation of toiletries, feminine products, socks, bar soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes to the Journey2Free Organization in St.Thomas, Jamaica. This organization supports youth through self-healing and personal growth.

Crawford Law Black Bar Association

We were honored to extend our support at the Crawford Law Black Bar Association's 2024 Annual Dinner, themed 'Transforming Relationships in the Legal Environment.' Our member, Attorney Tamara Titre, is a member the Board of Directors.

The Shack Sign Unveiling

On May 25th, the new sign for "The Shack" 333 Valley Street Intergenerational Community Center located at 333 Valley Street was unveiled. The organization was in need of a new sign, as participants and supporters found it difficult to find their way. We teamed up with Jackie Buster of WOW Creative to design the sign, incorporating the artwork inside the building. The sign was then built by Lou Cox of Channel 1. We are proud to say this was a New Haven collective effort in supporting what Honda Smith and her team have done in creating a safe space for seniors and youth in the West Hills community.

2nd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament

Held over the Memorial Day weekend at Sleeping Giant Public Golf Course we had a great time rasing funds, networking, creating memories and learning new skills. Shamar Wilson, for whom this event was orginaly created for, was in attendance and gave lessons to our participants. The highlight of the event was introducing the sport of golf to our young people, while seasoned golf players enjoyed friendly competion on the the 9-hole course. A special thank you to our sponsors Litchfield Distillery, Connecticut Transportation Solutions, Crown Media House, and our title sponsor Harriott Home Health Services. With your support, we consider this event a tremendous success!

Congratulations to our 2024 winning team-Connecticut Transportation Solutions.
